Exactly square, every time. The preset is already selected — drop your images in and process.

This page opens with the 1080 × 1080 preset already applied and the mode set to fill and crop, so every image you process comes out exactly square. Drop your files in and click Process.
If you would rather not crop, switch the mode to fit inside — your images will fit within 1080 × 1080 but keep their original proportions, so most will not be exactly square.
Being straight about this: if you are making images for Instagram or Facebook feeds in 2026, 1080 × 1350 portrait is the better choice. Meta prioritises 4:5 in the feed, it occupies noticeably more of a phone screen, and it displays correctly on Instagram's portrait grid.
Square remains right for profile pictures, product catalogues, album art and any grid layout that expects it. It is no longer the default for social feed posts.
Forcing a rectangular photo into a square means something has to go. Fill and crop scales the image to cover the full square, then trims equally from both sides of the longer dimension — a centre crop.
For a landscape photo, that removes the left and right edges. For a portrait photo, the top and bottom. If your subject is centred this works fine. If it is off to one side, or if the top of someone's head is about to be cut off, use the crop screen first: set the aspect to 1:1, position the box where you want it, then process.
If these are going to a social platform, use JPEG at quality 85–90. The platform will re-compress whatever you upload, so a heavily compressed file gets compressed twice and shows visible artefacts. JPEG is preselected on this page for exactly that reason.
If these are for your own website, switch to WebP at quality 80 for a considerably smaller file.
| Size | Use |
|---|---|
| 2048 × 2048 | Shopify product photos with zoom |
| 1080 × 1080 | Social posts, general purpose |
| 1400 × 1400 | Podcast cover art (minimum) |
| 800 × 800 | Smaller product catalogues |
| 400 × 400 | Profile pictures |
Select Custom in the resize dropdown and type any of these in.

Choose the 1080 by 1080 preset and set the mode to fill and crop. This scales the image to cover the square and trims the overflow, so the output is always exactly those dimensions.
In fill and crop mode, yes — a rectangular image is trimmed equally from both sides of its longer dimension. Switch to fit inside if you would rather keep the whole frame.
It works, but Instagram moved to a portrait grid in early 2026 and now recommends 1080 by 1350. Square posts get cropped on the new grid and take up less screen.
With the do-not-enlarge option ticked, it stays at its original size rather than being upscaled into a blurry version. Untick it if you need the exact dimensions regardless.
JPEG at quality 85 to 90 for social platforms, since they re-compress everything anyway. WebP at quality 80 for your own website.
